Sisson Mobility Restoration Center is a C-Leg® Qualified Practitioner

Modern LegsDesigned and built by Otto Bock Healthcare of Germany, the C-Leg® is the most technologically advanced prosthesis available for persons with above knee or hip disarticulation amputations.

Who can use it

The C-Leg® is especially engineered for patients who would like to be unlimited community ambulators, frequently descend stairs or ramps, want to walk on uneven terrain, and/or whose lifestyles or lifework require a high degree of stance stability.

It’s ideal for patients who have the potential to walk up to three or more miles per day at speeds up to 3 MPH, who need to change speed and direction quickly during work or recreation, and/or who want to participate in sports such as bicycling or roller-blading.

How it works

The C-Leg® features multiple sensors that feed information to built-in microprocessors. At a rate of 50 times per second, these sensors measure and input such parameters as force, weight loading, relative angles, and more.

Using these data, the microprocessors control the C-Leg® hydraulic knee, instantaneously matching its action to the gait of the patient as he or she changes speed, shifts position, rides a bike, negotiates stairs, or walks on uneven surfaces.

Dual modes for active lifestyles

C-Leg® wearers can choose between two modes that are programmed by their prosthetists. The first mode is optimized for one’s daily activities, and the second for less-frequent activities, such as biking or standing for long periods of time. Switching between modes is easily done with a few taps of the toe.
